If you made a New Year's resolution, was it one of the following?
- Find a new job
- To earn more money
- Travel more
- Improve your knowledge
- Start a personal development program
- Spend more time with friends and family
- Buy a new car, house, or boat
These are just a few examples of a very long list. But they all have one thing in common. To reach one of them, you first need to set a goal.
You can't just make one of them happen. First you need a goal. One goal is your plan, what you want and how to get there.
Suppose you want to travel more. You have to decide where and when you want to go. Why you want to go there, how much it will cost, what you will take with you. What do you want to do when you get there? Where to stay, how to travel to your destination and when to return.
The New Year's resolution to want to travel more is just the idea, not the actual planning and implementation. That's why so many people don't worry about their resolutions. Or they give up before they get anywhere.
You had no plan. They hadn't set a goal to succeed.
You may want to make more money this year (who doesn't!). Have you returned to your normal job? Have you stopped thinking about extra money because you're back in the old routine?
How about making this year the year you actually achieve what you set out to do? New year, new goals, new success – it can be yours. It is up to you to make it happen.
We're not talking about major changes here, just small steps that you're constantly working on and that will make a difference over time.
How many people say they will lose weight, sign up for a gym, walk once or twice, and then quit? If you stop before you even start, what chance do you have?
Everything takes time that we can hardly accept if we live in such a spontaneous world. People want things now, they are not ready to wait or work for what they want to achieve.
The winners are those who are ready to go into the work and step up their efforts over time. They are the success stories, and they are the ones who achieve their resolutions and make them a reality.
New year, new goals, new success – start your own story now, don't waste another year.
